We visit a real working quarry in order to learn how the marble was and is extracted nowadays, our guide gives also us some geological information on the territory surrounded by the Apuan Alps, known worldwide for their “white gold” marble.

Our discovery continues through the Tunnel of the ancient "Marmifera" railway by which the marble was carried from the quarry to the harbor of Marina di Carrara. This means of transport had been working for almost one century as it has been permanently stopped in 1964 to develop the road transport.

We finish our trip in the sign of taste towards Colonnata, we visit a "lard house" where the famous "lardo di Colonnata IGP" is produced and spend some time relaxing and tasting the lovely lard.

Our bus drives us back to our departure locations.
